This typeface is used in London Airport, Heathrow, and other Airports. It is the best choice for body text. The Bembo typeface family was designed by the Italian typographer Roberto M. Lotz for the Aldine Press in Venice and was first used in 1496. It is an old-style serif typeface based on the Venetian model of Johannes Gutenberg and the Graziano da Verona types.
The Bembo family includes 8 variants: Roman, Italic, Semibold, Semibold Italic, Bold, Bold Italic, Extra Bold, and Extra Bold Italic. The family also includes a proportional version called Bembo Titling, which includes all variants except Roman and Italic.
The most significant feature of this font is its small x-height with a relatively high cap-height. As a consequence of this design choice, it has very open forms that appear compressed or stretched when set next to modern designs such as Helvetica. The extremely open form of characters like ‘k’ or ‘e’ makes them almost unrecognizable at first glance from their intended shape.
