Avenir Next is a well-designed typeface family from the French type foundry Monotype. It’s a sans serif that was designed by Adrian Frutiger of Univers fame and is a follow-up to his original Avenir family, which was released in 1989. The family includes six weights (Ultra Light, Thin, Light, Regular, Medium, Demi) and five widths (Ultra Light, Ultra Light Italic, Thin, Thin Italic, Light, Light Italic).
Designers loved it for all the right reasons. This font is suitable for numerous designs and can be specified in the CSS and Github.
A clean and modern typeface is used for various purposes such as logo designs, posters, webpage designs, signage, business cards, invitation cards, advertising, publishing and promotion projects, app developments, printing projects, etc.
The Avenir Next font family was reworked by Frutiger and Akra Kobayashi between 2004-2007. It is 98KB in size and can create various weights. Two of the most noteworthy features of Avenir Next—and perhaps what helped make it the winner of the 2011 Type Director’s Club Typography Award—are the small x-height and open counters.
