The Archivo font family is a contemporary set of solid typefaces that are highly versatile and unique. The family includes 8 fonts with a wide range of weights and styles. The Archivo family was designed by Pablo Impallari and released through his foundry [email protected] in 2005.
Pablo Impallari is an Argentinian designer that spent most of his career as an art director, which gave him the experience he needed to create this typeface. He based his design on the lettering used in mid-20th century posters and advertisements but also wanted to make it very versatile, so he kept the stroke contrast low enough to make the types easy to read at small sizes but with enough character to make them stand out at large sizes.
Archivo is a humanist sans-serif typeface that has some influences from grotesques, with a tall x-height, open counters, and generous proportions overall.
Archivo is available in five weights (regular, italic, medium, semi bold, bold) with true italics and small caps for every weight; this makes for a total of eight typefaces in the family. Its letterforms are very open, which makes it legible even in small sizes; however, it can be used for display purposes too.
